Aims & Objectives:
Around 10% of Standards Entry recruits are found to lack the required numeracy skills to progress through recruitment, either becoming stuck in the system, or having to leave the Army. ‘Operation Numerika’ aims to increase the first-time pass rate for Entry Level 3 maths (GCSE D-G equivalent). Contextualised learning ensures recruits enjoy developing numeracy skills, without the stigma of traditional learning methods.
Intended Audience:
The audience is British Army Standard Entry Level 3 recruits who have been identified as lacking the required numeracy skills. The games-based learning develops the skills of those recruits who fail the mock exam. Learning is undertaken in barracks, in recruits’ spare time, in preparation for taking the full exam.
