Sainsbury's Active Kids aims to tackle childhood obesity providing young people with sports equipment. The scheme reached over 31,000 schools.

In March 2008 Sainsbury's launched its biggest consultation: Active Kids Get Talking. The aim to reinvigorate the scheme for the future to create Active Kids for kids, by kids.

School students submitted their ideas Active Kids via special website. A panel selected schools to present their ideas at regional conferences. Eleven schools were invited to become National Consultants, Sainsbury's staff facilitated discussions in which adult guests listened to young peoples' ideas and helped to develop them further.

32,000 schools were invited to participate in the consultation. Their ideas will be included in the development of the Active Kids programme over the next four years.
